Welcome CC families!  This blog is place for listing resources and ideas as we slowly ease into this school year.   My hope is to aid in our effort as a community to delve into the "grammar" of classical education!

Above, are two tabs: one for Foundations and one for Essentials.  This will serve as a bulletin board for resources used by your tutors plus more! Use these to begin to put together a weekly plan to teach the "grammar" to your student/s.

To the right is a resource guide, listing helpful websites specifically geared towards CC, like http://www.halfahundredacrewood.com, as well as introducing us to other spheres of the education world that may discuss what we call "classical" education.

What does it really mean to "educate" another human being?  What does it really mean in a day-to-day way to teach our specific kids? Providing true, excellent education has been going on for centuries.  We may have to dig a bit, but I really do believe that the more we read and discuss, we really can recover the lost tools of learning (and teaching!) for our children today.

Scripture says,  "Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.  Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth." Deut. 11:18-21

Being "a people of the Book," we come from quite a rigorous and hefty educational tradition!  One, it seems, is centered around our role as parent/teacher.  I believe we're on the right road, and I look forward to walking this road with you and our kids together!

Please feel free to post to this website or forward me links/books/articles you would like listed.
